Like a lot of kids I had one of those cheap dart boards with the baseball field on one side, and the numbers on the other. I never did know how to actually play darts I just throw them at the board and was happy when I hit it.

Fast forward a number of years, and I found myself stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville North Carolina. I started hanging out in a bar called the Bayou Lounge right outside the main gate. It had everything a young 20 year old boy that had never been anywhere would want.

There was about 7 or 8 pool tables, topless dancers and a lonely electronic dart board over at the back side. Didn’t think much about the dart board till I noticed a young pretty waitress playing dart over there one night. I really wanted to get to know her so I asked her how it worked and how to play. I wound up getting pretty good not great, but good enough I played on their bar team for a few years till I got out.

Fast forward 3 more years I met the woman that will become my wife on a blind date. I introduced her to the joy of darts. Bought her first set of her own darts while we were on our honeymoon near Rock City  just outside of Chattanooga Tennessee. We have been throwing darts every chance we get for over 23 years now. Still not great but we have a great time.
